Farther China

How it works

We find the places.
Licensed operators run the trips.

Farther China shows places and experiences across China beyond the big cities: what each place is, when to go, how to get there and what permits it needs, with the date we last checked the page and where the facts came from.

When you send an enquiry

  1. We read it and pass it to one licensed travel operator in China who works in this region.
  2. The operator replies to you by email with their own plan and price.
  3. If you book, you book and pay the operator directly, under their terms.

How we make money

If you book, the operator pays us a referral fee. We do not sell tours or packages, take payments for trips, or guide anyone ourselves.

Permits and restricted areas

Some places, such as Tibet and some border areas, can only be visited through a licensed agency with permits arranged in advance. We say so on the page, and only licensed operators handle those trips.

Your details

We use your enquiry only to pass it to the operator and to follow up on that trip. Privacy says who receives it, where, and for how long.
